Note:Contact the academic advisor in your host department or college as noted above. There is no need to wait until your R'Web enrollment period. Advisors will assist you with early enroll, whenever possible.

Graduate Students

Graduate students usually register after consultation with the departmental graduate advisor. Check with your host department for registration advising.

Student Account

Check your account regularly to pay your fees and avoid late fees.  


  • Student Technology Course Materials Fee (CMF): $4 per unit for undergraduates and $2 per unit for graduates will be billed to your student account. The fee is non-refundable after the third week of instruction.
  • International Student Orientation Fee: $20 (subject to change) will be billed to your student account; orientation includes refreshments.
  • R'Card (ID card): $30 will be billed to your student account.
  • Health Insurance Fees: Fees will be billed to your account each quarter. See Health Insurance information.

2020-2021 costs and information are listed below.

Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP)

You will automatically be enrolled in your host university health insurance plan. No action is required.

Health Requirements and Recommendations at UC

Waiving Ship

To waive SHIP, you must apply for waiver by submitting documentation of comparable health insurance. Waiver must be approved by your host UC.

Waiver Deadlines:
  • Fall: September 12, 2020
  • Winter: December 16, 2020
  • Spring: March 13, 2021

Note: $50 fee for waiver after the deadline through start of instruction.
